

Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 9 wickets and 41 balls to spare. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 runs off 47 balls with 13 fours and 5 sixes. He was adjudged man of the match for his outstanding match-winning knock.

This game was very crucial for both RR and KKR. RR won the toss and elected to bowl first. Trent Boult does what he does with the new ball. He showed his class and took both the KKR openers, Jason Roy and R Gurbaz early in the inning.

Punjab Kings came out to chase a target and KL Rahul gets off to a flier. He scored a fifty in just 14 balls. Overall, he scored 51 off 16 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Karun Nair also scored fifty in 33 balls. M Stoinis (22) and David Miller (24) got the team over the line.
Now, Yashasvi Jaiswal holds a record for the fastest fifty in IPL history. In international cricket, the record for the fastest fifty is 12 balls by Yuvraj Singh. It was that match when Yuvraj hit 6 sixes in an over to Stuart Broad.
Other fastest fifties in IPL history
Before Yashasvi Jaiswal, other batters have also scored fifties in quick time in IPL history. These are KL Rahul (14 balls), Pat Cummins (14 balls), Y Pathan (15 balls), Sunil Narine (15 balls), N Pooran (15 balls), and so on.
Pat Cummins scored that fifty against MI in IPL 2022. Y Pathan scored that fifty against SRH in IPL 2014. Sunil Narine scored the fastest fifty against RCB in IPL 2017 and N Pooran scored that fifty in this season (IPL 2023) against RCB.
Right now, Yashasvi Jaiswal is standing at No. 2 in the orange cap race. He is just one run behind Faf du Plessis who scored 576 runs in 11 games. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 575 runs in 12 games with an average of 52.27 and a strike rate of 167.15.
Overall, he scored 1122 runs in 35 games in the IPL till now. His average is 33 and his strike rate is almost 150. In that period, he scored 7 fifties and a hundred with the highest score of 124, which came in this season against Mumbai Indians (MI). Unfortunately, he was on the losing side even after playing that knock.

Well well, it was a very convincing win for RR in the last match and it will give them a huge confidence going into the tournament. They need to win the remaining two games to be able to remain in the qualifying race. Their next two games will be against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 14. And the last game will be against Punjab Kings on May 19.
