WPL Playoffs Prediction: Which Teams Will Qualify For Playoff & Final?

The Women’s Premier League (WPL Playoffs) will begin the next week at the Dr. DY. Patil Sports Academy and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, following the conclusion of the league stage on March 21.

Five teams—RCB, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants. They will compete in the Women’s Premier League 2023, WPL playoffs 2023, for the coveted championship. The remaining four teams will be played twice, with the top three teams moving on to the next round in our WPL prediction.

The top three teams in the WPL Playoff will compete in two matches—the Eliminator and the Final—during the WPL 2023 playoff to determine the inaugural season’s champion. While the second- and third-placed teams compete in the eliminator to secure their spots in the summit match, the table topper receives a direct passage to the final.

In our WPL final prediction, we look at the top two teams that are going to make it to the WPL playoff & WPL 2023 finals.

Women’s Premier League 2023 Playoffs (WPL Playoff Scenario)

Mumbai Indians, who are now in the first place and have gone undefeated in five games, have earned a position in the WPL playoff. Delhi Capitals, who have won four games and lost two, are second to MI, and UP Warriorz, who have won two games and lost three, is third. The Gujarat Giants have also had two wins and four losses thus far. 

RCB, on the other hand, lost five straight games and won 1 game. They are now anchored to the bottom of the standings with a worse Net Run Rate.

RCB lost their season opener to DC by 60 runs before being destroyed by MI for nine wickets. Gujarat Giants, who had also lost their previous two games, defeated RCB by 11 runs in their third game on Wednesday (March 8).

WPL Playoffs Prediction

In our WPL prediction, only Mumbai Indians (10 points from 5 games) had already qualified for the WPL Playoff as of March 16. But they still had not decided which team would finish in the top three. 

The Delhi Capitals (8 points from 6 games) are in a good position to place in the top three. Gujarat Giants (4 points from 6 matches), Royal Challenger (2 points from 6 matches). UP Warriorz (4 points from 5 matches) will compete for the last berth.

Which 3 teams will qualify for the WPL Playoffs?

Mumbai Indians

The Harmanpreet-led team has won all five games they have played so far and tops the table. The team has already qualified for the WPL Playoff with ten points and three matches remaining.

Delhi Capitals

The captain of DC is Meg Lanning. After six games, they have four victories and eight points. In the points table, DC is in second place. They have two games left and are most likely to advance. To overtake MI as the top team in the points table, DC will attempt to win the remaining games.

UP Warriorz

Warriorz has had a mixed season thus far. In their four games, they have won two and lost two. They must win at least three of the final four games to easily advance to the playoffs. The team captained by Alyssa Healy still has a chance to win the table.

Gujarat Giants

Beth Mooney’s team has won only two games out of six matches so far this season. There are four matches left in the league stage for the Giants. They must win every game to advance to the next round; else, they will be dependent on NRR and other teams.

WPL 2023 Playoffs Rules

In our WPL Playoff & WPL final prediction, the top three teams in the WPL 2023 Points Table will qualify for the playoffs. The playoff round will include an Eliminator game and a Final game for our WPL final prediction.

WPL 2023 Eliminator:

The WPL 2023 Eliminator will be between the second and third position teams in the 2023 WPL Points Table. Winners will qualify for the final, while losers will be awarded third place.

WPL Final:

The final of the WPL 2023 will be played between the first-placed team in the points table and the winner of the eliminator.

WPL Final Prediction

As per our WPL final prediction & the current WPL playoffs standing, Mumbai Indians & Delhi Capitals look very likely to make it to the WPL 2023 finals. 

Early on, the players of these two teams had a good understanding of Mumbai’s conditions. As a result, they gave a good performance in their WPL debut. Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews, and Nat Sciver-Brunt are just a few of the in-form all-rounders that the Mumbai Indians have on their team.

The Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, had all-rounders like Marizanne Kapp and Alice Capsey. Along with swashbuckling hitters like Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning who gave them the appearance of being a balanced team.
