The former Indian captain and Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket, Saurav Ganguly has given a massive update on the comeback of Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper batter has been an integral part of the team for a while now. But he is not playing any professional cricket right now as he is recovering from the injuries he picked up last year when he met with a tragic accident. But Pant’s comeback is not far away as Ganguly said he will play in the IPL 2024.
What happened with Rishabh Pant?
Rishabh Pant met with a horrible accident last year when he was going to his home. His car collided with the divider, near Roorkee, Uttrakhand. The car took fire and he picked up multiple injuries on his head, knee, shin, and back.
Rishabh Pant has to sit out due to the Car Accident
The wicketkeeper batter has to miss a lot of cricketing action due to the accident. Because of that incident, he missed out on IPL 2023, ICC WTC Final 2023, Asia Cup 2023, and an all-important ICC World Cup 2023. The Indian team and the Delhi Capitals franchise have definitely missed his services. But this is how it is. These things are not in anyone’s hands.
Pant underwent surgery after that incident
Rishabh Pant has suffered a few injuries when he met with an accident. And he underwent a few surgeries due to that. There were some reports suggesting that he has to go through another minor surgery, but the doctors said it is not needed as Pant is recovering well.
Pant has started a rehab earlier
The wicketkeeper batter has started his rehab a few months earlier. He continuously posted his rehab updates on his social media. We have also heard about his updates from the different BCCI sources.
Pant’s training regime includes flexibility, strength, and running. We have also seen him doing batting and keeping drills in the nets.
He also had a few rehab sessions at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) and played a few practice games there.

Rishabh Pant will not train with DC’s camp in November
Delhi Capitals are one of the franchises that started their training early for the next IPL season. They started their camp at the Jadavpur University second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal ground in Saltlake, Kolkata.
Rishabh Pant was seen visiting a few temples during his rehab period. Right now, he is also in Kolkata with the team. But he will not train with the team in this camp, said Saurav Ganguly. Ganguly also said Pant will be in Kolkata till November 11, 2023.
Although Pant looks good in terms of fitness, walking through the ground. But he will not be with the team to train in the camp.
But we might see him playing IPL 2024 and leading the team as well. It will be a huge boost for the franchise as the team had a very poor outing in IPL 2023.
When will we see Rishabh Pant in international cricket?
There are some reports suggesting that he might play in the home test series against England earlier next year. But it all depends on how he recovers and how his body responds. It is unlikely that he will go to South Africa to play a full-fledged series.
But if Pant makes a comeback in the England series, it will be a good thing for Team India. As we said earlier, he is a very important member of the team. Let’s see what happens.
Pant’s last appearance in professional cricket
Rishabh Pant played his last international game against Bangladesh on December 22, 2022. It was the 2nd test of the series which India won by 3 wickets. Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin help the team to get out of the tough situation in a stiff run chase. Pant also scored 90 runs in the first inning of that game.
