Rinku Singh Credits MS Dhoni For His Better Finishing Skills

Rinku Singh reveals MS Dhoni’s tips from IPL 2023 which helped him become a better finisher

Rinku Singh, the rising star in Indian cricket, shared some wisdom from MS Dhoni, describing how it kept him composed and cool during T20I run chases. With a great switch from his Indian Premier League (IPL) accolades to international cricket, Rinku Singh has become one of the best finishers in the game’s shortest format.

In a very short time, the southpaw has managed to solidify his spot in India’s T20I lineup. In the first T20I against Afghanistan on Thursday, Rinku stayed calm and hit an unbeaten 16 off 9 balls, helping Shivam Dube and India to a successful 159-run chase.

Rinku Singh credits MS Dhoni for his success

After India’s win against Afghanistan in the first T20I in Mohali, Rinku Singh said in the post-match that contact with MS Dhoni helps him in ending games. “I had a chat with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), and he told me to react as per the ball and keep my cool.

I just do the same thing,” Rinku remarked. When I’m batting, I just react to the ball without thinking too much. In nine balls, Rinku scored two boundaries.

The left-handed batter also said that his huge experience batting at number six has improved his understanding of the game. “I’m very happy with my job at number 6,” Rinku said. “I have a habit of batting at six and finishing games.” I simply make an effort to remind myself that, batting at number six, I will not get to face as many deliveries or hit too many runs.

In the first T20I, Afghanistan scored 158 runs in 20 overs while batting first. With great handwork, Mohammad Nabi (42) and Azmatullah Omarzai (29) led Afghanistan to a respectable total. India lost Rohit Sharma early in the first over of the chase due to a poor start.

India’s leading scorer, Shivam Dube, scored quick 60 runs in 40 balls while hitting two sixes and five boundaries. Because of his overall show, he was also named Player of the Match. Dube took two wickets in the innings as well.
