Ranji Trophy 2024: Ajinkya Rahane Likely To Play Ranji Matches

Ajinkya Rahane Likely To Return For Ranji Matches | Ranji Trophy 2024

Ajinkya Rahane, the Indian veteran batter, traveled to Patna for the Ranji trophy 2024 match against Bihar. But the veteran batter hit an injury and could not play in the game.

The Mumbai batter explains why the team decided not to play in Patna. “I came to Patna because I have a great passion for playing,” Rahane said. When I play, I never give up. Unfortunately, I had a small neck injury during a drill. For that reason, I’m not playing in this game. But I’ll play in the next Ranji games, for sure.”

Rahane spoke about how much he loved the game and how his intense love for it drove him to travel to Patna for the Ranji Trophy 2024 game and never give up on the chance to play.

“I came to Patna because I have a strong interest in playing cricket at the highest level. I never give up when I’m playing. However, I had a small neck injury during a practice session. I’m not playing in this match because of this. However, I’ll take part in the next Ranji games,” Rahane stated, as cited by India Today.

The Mumbai team got a cordial welcome in Patna. But they were without Rahane on the pitch for their Ranji Trophy 2024 game. Rahane commented shortly after seeing the surprising turnout.

Ajinkya Rahane: Player Review

Ajinkya Rahane has been a consistent middle-order batsman for Team India, especially while playing overseas. He will always be known for steering the team to a thrilling Test series victory in Australia in 2020–21, even if he may not draw as much attention as many of his more flashy batting colleagues.

Rahane, a top-order batsman for Mumbai, helped the team win its 38th title with over a thousand runs scored in his second Ranji season. After travelling with the team for several months, he made his Test debut in 2013. In Durban, he scored 51 runs not out. Soon after, in a tie in Wellington in February 2014, he scored his first century in a Test match.

After five months, he led India to their first victory at Lord’s in almost thirty years, taking the game with a strong 103 in the opening innings. At Edgbaston, he backed it up with his first-ever ODI century as India won the ODI series 3-1.

In the 2015–16 Delhi Test, Ajinkya Rahane struck two centuries against South Africa, the only other century-scorer in the series. His great form continued with hundreds in Melbourne and Colombo. India, led by captain Rahane, won two Tests after the series was levelled by him and Cheteshwar Pujara against Australia in Bengaluru in 2017.

I won’t say anything about it at the moment: Rahane

Rahane remained silent when asked about the next England tour and his chances of returning to the Indian Test team. “I won’t say anything about it at the moment,” he said, leaving the matter of his return up for discussion.

While, Mumbai scored 291 runs in their opening half, with Bhupen Lalwani scoring the highest with 65 runs. Tanush Kotian and Suved Parker each scored 50 runs to round up their contributions in the fifties. Bihar is now behind by 60 runs after managing to score 91 for six in their second innings.

Ajinkya Rahane had earlier shared a video of himself warming up for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy campaign by hitting in the nets. Both Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara are still in the running for a comeback because the Indian Cricket squad for the England series has not yet been declared. The latter, though, has a better chance of getting called up because of his double-century in the most recent Ranji Trophy game.

Two of India’s best batters in the Test format are Pujara and Rahane. However, in the longer format of the game, the selection committee is searching for their long-term replacements. Although they are being supported for the future, players like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, etc. have not yet kept their places in the team.

The Mumbai team received a cordial welcome in Patna, even without Rahane on the pitch. Rahane loved the surprising number of fans with brevity.

“Normally, Ranji games don’t have crowds like this one. However, the sizeable crowd in Ranji Trophy 2024 game in Patna indicates how passionate people are about cricket in Bihar. Both sides saw an equal backing from the Bihar crowd. It’s not as though they were merely aiding Bihar,” Rahane said.
