Pro Kabaddi 2023 Auction: 3 Teams to Target Pawan Sehrawat

The Pro Kabaddi League, known as PKL is a men’s pro Kabaddi competition in India. Star Sports shows it, and it debuted in 2014. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Season 8 was delayed, and it finally happened on December 22, 2021.

The popularity of the Kabaddi competition during the 2006 Asian Games had an impact on the formation of the league. The Indian Premier League inspired the league’s format. The Pro Kabaddi League is a franchise competition. It held its first season in 2014 with eight teams that each paid entry fees of up to US$250,000.

The 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League will begin on December 2, 2023. It will have 12-city caravan play. Anupam Goswami, the commissioner of the league, expressed his joy for the next campaign. He also promised a special tenth season that will honour the game.

The Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction will take place soon. We look at which team will bone one of the league’s star players Pawan Sehrawat.

The excitement around Pawan Sehrawat

The Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction generated a lot of joy. Everyone was interested to know what would happen to Pawan Sehrawat. The Tamil Thalaivas and U Mumba got into a bidding battle to find a solution; at 2.26 crores, the issue was settled. The Thalaivas got a new chief raider in Sehrawat.

He misses out on a large amount of time due to a knee injury. Pawan sustained the same in his first game of the season. He did play a key role in India’s win in the Asian Kabaddi Championship campaign a few months ago. While he now appears to be back in full shape.

For the second season in a row, the Thalaivas decided not to renew their contract with Pawan Sehrawat. His final place at the auction is thus a hot topic. Let’s take a look at the three teams who ought to bid for him at the auction.

Pro Kabaddi 2023 Auction: List of teams eyeing Pawan Sehrawat

1. Tamil Thalaivas

There were a lot of hopes for Pawan Sehrawat and the Thalaivas. But all of that was dashed by his injury in the season’s first game. To their credit, the Thalaivas overcame that setback and moved to the semifinals without a player they had almost spent their cash on.

But, the Thalaivas released Pawan Sehrawat before the auction, but thanks to their FBM card, they are still one of the favourites to sign him. They could probably manage without Pawan and bring in a new raider to work with their season-long find, Narender Hoshiyar.

The Thalaivas will be happy to add a raider of his calibre to partner up with Narender in the Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction if the other teams are a little hesitant to go for the Hi-Flyer due to his injury layoff.

2. Telugu Titans

The Telugu Titans have had their finest seasons when they have a great raider, a few capable backup raiders, and a strong defence to assist him. With Siddharth Desai, Monu Goyat, and Abhishek Singh as members of the Titan’s previous season, there was an expectation that their raiding unit would operate at peak show. But this was not the case.

Desai was the top-scoring raider for the Titans, who had the fewest raid points overall. He scored 142 points in 17 games, which is less than half what Arjun Deshwal, the league’s top raider, scored.

The Titans’ search for a lead raider to have the impact that Rahul Chaudhari did will extend to this auction because Rajnish is the only famous raider in their list. They might find a solution in Pawan Sehrawat.

They surely have the funds to pursue Pawan Sehrawat, even though there’s a fair chance he won’t even cost that much, with Parvesh Bhainswal being their lone Elite retention. The Telugu Titans would likely take the lead in the Hi-Flyer Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction.

3. Bengal Warriors

For the 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League, the Bengal Warriors seem to have started from scratch after two bad seasons.

The Season 7 victors, including star raider Maninder Singh, have not kept a single player from the Elite and New Young Player category. The likelihood that they will use their FBM card to re-sign him is still quite real, but there is a huge chance that they may target Pawan Sehrawat instead.

The Bengal Warriors should be the most active team at the auction because they have practically their whole budget to spend. They have the resources and the need to engage in a bidding battle for one of the best raiders available at the Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction, even though they also need to focus on their defence.
