Possible auction date for Pro Kabaddi League Season 9

Season 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is now just less than six months away to start. The league consists of 12 teams competing for a trophy with 137 games.

Most likely, season 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League will commence in December 2022. And the league will be completed by the end of February 2023.

The auction before the start of the Pro Kabaddi League

Before the start of season 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), there will be an auction where both local or domestic Indian players and international players will feature to get contracted in a different franchise. The format of the auction will be the same as last year.

In season 8, we saw so many talented Indian and International players picked by the different franchises and they have done well for their respective teams.

Expensive buys in the auction last year

The most expensive buy last year was Pradeep Narwal. He was bought by UP Yoddha for a whopping 1.65 crore. He has done well for his team and his team finished at No. 3 in the league stages.

Followed by P Narwal, Siddharth Desai was the 2nd most expensive buy last year with Rs. 1.30 crore. He was bought by Telugu Titans. Although, Telugu Titans has finished last in the points table of the Pro Kabaddi League season 8.

Other than P Narwal and S Desai. Arjun Deshwal was bought by the first-time champions of the Pro Kabaddi League, Jaipur Pink Panthers for Rs. 96 lakh.

The other two in the top 5 expensive buys in the auction of PKL season 8 were Manjeet (for INR 92 lakh) and Sachin Tanwar (for INR 84 lakh).

This time, we will again see the teams bidding for the players to get them into their teams.

How many players a franchise can retain in its team?

A franchise can retain from one player to six players in its respective teams. Other than the retained players, all the players will go into the auction.

There are six players to choose from among the following categories: A, B, C, and NYP

There is a system of FBM cards as well for the franchise to get the players into their teams.

Last date of retained players?

The franchise will have to give the list of the retained players by them to the Pro Kabaddi management by July 12, 2022. It is the last date of submitting the list of retained players by the franchises.

Date of the auction of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)

At first, there were reports that the auction of the Pro Kabaddi League season 9 might take place on August 29.

But there was no official confirmation from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) management or from the broadcaster Star Sports.

The auction will be held after SNKC

Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, will host the Senior National Kabaddi Championship (SNKC). Players who have done well during SNKC will benefit from the auction of the Pro Kabaddi League season 9.

The performed players will get the benefits in terms of money and the franchise will also be benefitted to get the desired players on the team.

After the SNKC ends on July 24, 2022, an auction will take place.

The auction will most likely be done before August 10, 2022.

Date of the auction?

Now, according to one of the biggest websites Sportskeeda, the auction will take place on July 29, 2022.

There has yet to be a decision on where the Pro Kabaddi League season 9 auction will take place. But we will notify you as soon as we get the official confirmation from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) management or from the broadcaster.

Last year, the purse of every franchise was 4.4 crore INR. This year, the purse is increased up to INR 5 crore.

Now, the teams can retain players in the amount of 5 crore INR. And from the remaining amount, they can buy new players in the auction.
