Just after the finals, MS Dhoni went to Mumbai for his knee surgery. He consulted renowned sports orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is also on the BCCI medical panel.
“Yes, Dhoni had a successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. He is doing fine and the surgery happened in the morning. I don’t have details. I am yet to get all the details about the nature of surgery and other things,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to PTI.
“He has already been discharged from hospital and he has gone back to Ranchi. He would be resting for a few days at home before his extensive rehabilitation started. It is now expected that he would have enough time to get fit to play in the next IPL,” another source close to CSK management told PTI.
Will we see him playing another IPL season?
Now the big question is will we see MS Dhoni playing IPL 2024 as well? His fans would love to see him play at least one more season. But MS Dhoni has confirmed that it all depends on his body. He has 8-9 months to prepare and will think about it before the IPL 2024 auctions.
When asked about his retirement plans, he said- “The easy thing would be for me to say “Thank you very much”, but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least 1 more season of IPL. A lot depends on the body, I have 6-7 months to decide.”
MS Dhoni also said he would love to give his fans a gift in return for the way they love him. He said- “It will be more like a gift from my side, it’s not easy for me but that’s a gift. The way they’ve shown their love and affection, I think that’s something I need to do for them.”
