Gujarat Titans (GT) is the champions of the last year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) season. It was their first outing in the IPL 2022 and they won the title in the first outing. Now, they will also look to replicate the same performance in the upcoming season (IPL 2023).
Before that as well, another Gujarat-based franchise participated in the IPL in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. But couldn’t make it to the final. Gujarat Titans have done well and won the first-ever title in their first season.
GT started the season very well with 8 wins out of the first 9 games. They ended the league stage at the top of the points table with 10 wins in 14 games.
Then, they beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in qualifier 2 and again in the final of the season. Both times, they beat RR by 7 wickets.

In the final of the IPL 2022, RR batted first and their openers added 31 runs for the first wicket. He took three crucial wickets of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Shimron Hetmyer. RR didn’t get any momentum throughout the inning. They were restricted to just 130 in the first inning.
When Gujarat Titans (GT) came out to chase the target, they lost two quick wickets in Wridhimann Saha and Matthew Wade. But the captain Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill steadied the ship for GT and added 63 runs for the 3rd wicket.
H Pandya played a handy cameo as well after the heroics with the ball in the first inning. He scored 34 off 30 balls with 3 fours and a six.

GT’s squad analysis:-
Gujarat Titans have a very good squad this year as well. If we saw the batting lineup, they have Shubman Gill who is in the form of his life at the top. Also, they have W Saha who gave a very good start to Gujarat Titans in the last season. They also have KS Bharat as a backup in the top order and Kane Williamson is in the mix.
Coming to the middle order, they have some of the finest hitters of the cricket ball in the team like the captain H Pandya, D Miller, Rashid Khan, Rahul Tewatia, etc.
Coming to their bowling lineup, they have the wicket-takers like M Shami, A Joseph, Rashid Khan, etc. So their team has a very good mix of batting and bowling.
A slight weakness in the GT’s squad is they don’t have an out n out pacer who can bowl in the death overs. M Shami and A Joseph are good death bowlers, but sometimes lack that quality in the back end of the inning.
