The Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to start in less than 40 days with Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns in the first game of the season. But before the start of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings faced an injury blow as star pacer Kyle Jamieson has been ruled out of the entire season.
The 16th season of the Indian Premier League will kick on March 31st at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. And last season’s champions Gujarat Titans and 4 times champions Chennai Super Kings will start the proceedings in the IPL 2023.
CSK has a very bad last season

It is strange to see the two best teams in the IPL finishing last in the points table. Now, Chennai Super Kings will look to redeem themselves in the IPL 2023 with the skipper MS Dhoni again leading the side for the full season. They have a very strong side this time around.
A huge blow for Chennai Super Kings before IPL 2023
Just Before the start of the season, they got a huge blow as the star New Zealander pacer, Kyle Jamieson is most likely to be ruled out of IPL 2023. The pacer is struggling with a back stress fracture and is set to miss 3 to 4 months of cricket. His news came in first when he was ruled out of the two match home test series against England. New Zealand lost the first test match by a huge margin of 267 runs.
The pacer has to undergo back surgery
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise paid INR 1 crore to select Kyle Jamieson. But now, he will miss the IPL 2023 and the news came out that he has to undergo back surgery. The fast bowler from New Zealand will need back surgery to treat his injury, which could keep him out for up to four months.
New Zealand head coach, Gary Stead confirmed that news. He said- “Kyle has seen a back surgeon and is getting surgery later in the week. It’s been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us. He has been fantastic when he has been around all of our sides when he has been part of them.”
Kyle Jamieson will miss the Indian Premier League in 2023 as well as New Zealand’s home series against Sri Lanka in March–April, as well as the country’s April–May away trip to Pakistan.
“We just wish him well, and we will know more in about three to four months about what that end prognosis looks like for him. Surgery provides a quicker return to play and that’s an encouraging thing for him. We want to give him the best chance of recovery because we know what a star he has been for us,” Stead added.
The big pacer’s setback is a recurrence of a previous back problem that he sustained during the England tour last year. Before to the current Test series, he recovered in the domestic circuit and even participated in a warm-up game against England in Hamilton. But, he was sidelined after scans revealed the injury.
