How will Team India line up for the West Indies ODI Series?

India vs West Indies: Team India is set to tour West Indies for a three-match ODI series. And a five-match T20I series. The tour will start with the ODI series on July 22 at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Followed by the first ODI, the next two ODIs will be played at the same venue on July 24 and 27. The T20I series will start on July 29 at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.

The next two T20Is will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre, and St Kitts before the last two games will be played in Florida to end the tour.

Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida, will host the final two games on August 6 and 7.

India announced the squad (India vs West Indies)

For the ODI series, the selectors have announced the squad with some of the big names rested for the three-match series.

Regular Captain R Sharma, V Kohli, J Bumrah, M Shami, and R Pant are the few big names who have been rested. While KL Rahul is not available for the selection due to injury.

S Dhawan will lead the side in the absence of R Sharma. R Jadeja will be his deputy.

Also, S Gill has been given a chance in the ODI squad after more than one and a half years. Arshdeep Singh has also got their maiden call-up in the ODI team. He got rewarded after his outstanding performances in IPL and domestic cricket.

The series will be an opportunity for some of the fringe players like D Hooda, A Singh, R Gaikwad, etc.

After a good performance in IPL and domestic cricket, these players have been rewarded a place in the Indian team. They have a chance to show their ability and make an impact in this series. (India vs West Indies)

Opportunity for D Hooda

In the absence of big players, D Hooda might get a chance in the playing XI in this series. He has done well recently in the IPL and in the Ireland series. H also made an impact in the first T20I against England. Hooda played a quick cameo to get India to 198.

Also, the five-match T20I series will be a good preparation for Team India heading into the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

West Indies is a force when it comes to T20 cricket. An aggressive and fearless cricket team like WI will be a good challenge for the Indian team.

Players to look for in the ODI series

Shikhar Dhawan

Captain S Dhawan will look to lead from the front in the series. He can’t play test cricket. And he has not been considered for the T20Is as well.

In that case, he only has one format and he has done well for Team India in this format. He will look to continue his good form as Team India doesn’t have much of an ODI cricket in the near future. (India vs West Indies)

Surya Kumar Yadav

SK Yadav has been performing well since he began playing for the Indian national team. The way he plays is a treat to watch and he has all the shots in his armory.

He will be one of the players to look for in this ODI series. SK Yadav recently scored an outstanding hundred in the last T20I against England.

Prasidh Krishna

In the absence of a regular bowling attack, P Krishna will be important for India. His ability to hit those hard lengths makes life difficult for the opposition batters.

He bowled quickly and he is good with the new ball. If India wants to take early wickets, he will be the one India might look for.

Ravindra Jadeja

The vice-captain in the series, R Jadeja has been in excellent form in the last couple of years in all formats. He will look to continue his good form in the three-match ODI series against West Indies (WI).

His utility in the team is immense. He can bat down the order, can bowl with control, and a beast in the field.
