Hardik Pandya Getting Support After Lots Of Boos & Poor Start in IPL 2024

The Mumbai Indians have won five times in the Indian Premier League. But ever since Hardik Pandya took Mumbai Indians captaincy, the MI supporters in the stadium have booed him. For the all-rounder, things are getting tough since MI has lost all three games.

Everywhere Pandya travels, there is more jeering than at the last venue. Also, it was much louder at the home field in Wankhede, Mumbai.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya was the target of boos during Monday’s IPL 2024 toss against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). The Wankhede audience was advised to “behave” by former cricket player turned broadcaster Sanjay Manjrekar, who was upset with the fans’ antics.

However, on Sunday, the Mumbai Indians beat the Delhi Capitals by 29 runs at Wankhede, giving Hardik Pandya his maiden win as MI captain.

Hardik Pandya faces the wrath of MI faithful after captaincy handover

The Mumbai Indians captaincy was met with unruly behaviour at his home stadium, Wankhede Stadium. The MI fans kept jeering Pandya, following their jeering in Hyderabad.

After rejoining his original team after two seasons as the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) captain, Hardik took over Mumbai Indians captaincy. Since then, he has been the target of criticism and jeers from some fans and criticism from former Indian players.

The five-time IPL champions’ disastrous start to the season. They lost their lung-opener to GT and then lost their second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Hardik and head coach Mark Boucher were asked about the change in captaincy even during the preseason press talk. Hardik caused a stir on social media by avoiding directly answering the questions in his responses.

Shastri, who isn’t shy about expressing his beliefs, spoke out in favour of MI and Pandya, urging fans to keep their distance from the all-rounder since it may be harmful to his mental health.

Ravi Shastri’s advice to MI fans amid Captaincy blow-up

Ravi Shastri, former Indian cricketer and coach isn’t shy about his views. He spoke out in the Mumbai Indians captaincy saga in favour of Hardik Pandya. He urged fans to keep their distance from the all-rounder since it may affect his mental health.

“You have shown plenty of support for the team over the years.” They won’t be a bad team in just two or three games. They have a new captain, they are, after all, five-time champions. Please be patient; you know that the man you are pursuing is a fellow human being. He has to go to bed at the end of the day. Thus, just consider it and be calm”.

“I would advise Hardik to be “cool, patient, ignore, and then just concentrate on your game.” “They are a fantastic team. If they win three or four games, everything will fade. They put on a few strong shows. Everything will change then”.

Shastri said that the MI officials had the right to choose the captain of their IPL 2024 squad while not entirely blaming them for Rohit’s removal.

“This isn’t an Indian cricket team playing here. This is cricket as a franchise. They are the bosses and have paid top cash. They have the right to designate anybody they like for the Mumbai Indians captaincy,” Shastri said.

However, the 61-year-old said that better talks on the switch in captaincy would have helped Pandya.

Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capital to register their first win in IPL 2024

The Mumbai Indians (MI) beat the Delhi Capitals by a margin of 29 runs on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to record their first victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Delhi could only manage 205/8 in 20 overs of reply after Mumbai’s huge 234/5 total was overcome thanks to an all-around batting show.

Ishan Kishan (42), Rohit Sharma (49), and Hardik Pandya all scored some outstanding runs. But Romario Shepherd’s explosive 20th over proved to be the game-changer. In just six balls, Shepherd scored 32 runs, laying the road for Mumbai’s victory.

Tim David’s vital 45* runs and Shepherd’s explosive 39 off just ten balls helped the Mumbai Indians reach a huge total of 234-5 at home.

Tristan Stubbs made a heroic 71 runs off of just 25 balls to remain not out. But the Delhi Capitals could only score 205-8 in their chase, falling short. Their troubles in the league were more intense as this loss put them at the bottom of the IPL 2024 table.

This win was vital for the Mumbai Indians. Mainly for the Mumbai Indians captaincy of Hardik Pandya. He has been under fire from both fans and rivals since taking over as captain from Rohit Sharma at the start of the season. Pandya was under more pressure after the team’s three prior IPL 2024 match losses. It made this victory even more important for him and the team.
