Former IPL player DJ Bravo Re-Joins CSK As A Bowling Coach

The star West Indian all-rounder DJ Bravo calls his time on the IPL (Indian Premier League) career. Now, the 39-year-old all-rounder will join the CSK (Chennai Super Kings) franchise as a bowling coach in the IPL 2023.

The West Indian all-rounder was retired from international cricket before. But came back from retirement to play the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in UAE (United Arab Emirates).

DJ Bravo came from the retirement

The champion all-rounder DJ Bravo announced his retirement in October 2018. But he came back from retirement in December 2019 to play international cricket. He came from retirement to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in UAE.

He was the key member of the West Indies T20 setup. Although West Indies didn’t go to the semi-finals, DJ Bravo was an integral part of the team and his experience was vital for the team.

DJ Bravo finally announced his international retirement in November 2021. But he continued to play league cricket and especially IPL. He is an entertainer and has been an important player for the CSK franchise or for any team he has played before in this league.

His ability to bowl those slower deliveries and those pinpoint yorkers makes the batters’ life difficult for the batters in the last few overs. DJ Bravo is a champion bowler and whenever the captain needs a wicket, he looked to him for that role.

Also, he is a very potent batter and he has won many games with the bat as well for West Indies (WI), CSK, and other teams he has played for. A gun all-rounder as well, DJ Bravo was a complete package.

The all-rounder started his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise. He played his first IPL game against CSK on April 23, 2008. Which, he scored 24 off 16 balls with 2 fours and a six. And he gave 36 runs in his 3 overs without getting any wickets.

After MI, he played for CSK for so many years. When CSK was banned during the 2016-17 period, he played for another franchise called Gujrat Lions.

Again, he came back to the CSK franchise and finished his IPL career as a CSK player. Now he will join the franchise as a bowling coach.

DJ Bravo played his last game on May 12, 2022, against Mumbai Indians. He scored 12 off 15 balls with a six and gave 16 runs in his 2 overs without getting a wicket.

Overall, he played 161 IPL games and in 113 innings, he scored 1560 runs with an average of 22.61 and a strike rate of almost 130. He has scored 5 fifties in the IPL with the highest score of 70.

Coming to his bowling stats, he took 183 wickets in the IPL in 158 innings. His bowling average is 23.83 and a strike rate of 17.04. DJ Bravo’s economy is 8.39 with the best figures of 4 for 22.

This is the format that DJ Bravo has cherished the most. In the 91 games, he scored 1255 runs with an average of 22 and a strike rate of 115. He has scored 4 fifties with the highest score of 66.
