Ind vs Eng: England will spend a few days in Abu Dhabi before the third test. After the second Ind vs Eng Test in Vizag concludes in four days, the visiting team will depart from India. Before the five-match test series began in India, England held their pre-series training camp in Abu Dhabi. Only three days before the first game in Hyderabad, they landed in India.
This decision comes to give players time off to relax and have fun before returning for the third Test in Rajkot.
The five-match test series currently stands leveled at 1-1. The visiting side came back from behind for a winning start to the series. They took a 1-0 lead in the series. But the hosts registered a 106-run victory in the second Test match to level the Test series.
With a bit of a gap between the Three Tests, England has decided to use it to head to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They will return to India only a few days before the third Ind vs Eng Test match.
India beat England in the second Test at Vizag to level the series
At the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag, the Indian cricket team denied England from pulling off a record run chase. In the second Ind vs Eng Test, the Men in Blue held their 398-run total despite outclassing the English side by 106 runs.
With a joint match total of 9/91, Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the Match. As the third Test in Rajkot approaches, the Men in Blue have tied the five-match test series 1-1.
It was a fantastic match between two brilliant teams playing on a great pitch. First things went one way, then the other, and England, as usual, put up a fierce fight. As India’s target proved beyond the tourists’ grasp, most of the middle order were out in their twenties.
But Zak Crawley (73), who scored his second half-century of the match, anchored most of England’s innings. The two best bowlers for India were Ravi Ashwin (3-72) and Jasprit Bumrah (3-46). England was eventually bowled out for 292 runs.
On a pitch that was still suitable for batting, the batters lost wickets due to their careless shot selection. Nobody else stayed at the crease for a long period, except for Zak Crawley’s 73.
Ben Stokes (11) was run out by Shreyas Iyer, ending England’s hopes of another historic victory. At lunchtime, Crawley and Jonny Bairstow (26) were removed in consecutive overs in a double-strike for India.
Lower down the order, Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley offered some resistance with the best partnership in England’s second innings of 55 runs apiece. But Bumrah eventually undid them both as they fell for 36.
When the last man James Anderson (5) came out to bat, England still needed 118 runs. However, two overs later, Bumrah sealed the victory for India.
England to travel back to Abu Dhabi for a break
The English cricket team will go to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates before the start of the third Test series in Rajkot, as per Rahul Rawat of AajTak. The English squad will return to Abu Dhabi after their brief visit to India. Before the third Test in Rajkot begins, they will return to India in a few days, Rawat said on X (previously Twitter).
Ben Stokes and company will take a much-needed rest during their trip back to Abu Dhabi, the pre-series camp, and play golf before the touring team of England heads back to India in time for the third Test, which begins on February 10.
It’s interesting to note that England trained for the much-awaited Ind vs Eng Test series for a long time in Abu Dhabi. Before the first Test in Hyderabad, they made the decision not to take part in a pre-series practice game in India.
This camp’s main goal was to tackle the Indian spinners. It turns out that the touring team has done well against the spinners. Only 9 of the 20 wickets lost in the defeat at Vizag went to spinners. While 10 wickets went to Indian pacers.
A much-needed victory was made possible by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double ton, Shubman Gill’s hundred, and Jasprit Bumrah’s nine-wicket match haul. Bumrah’s outstanding bowling earned him the title of Player of the Match.
It now appears that the England players will travel to the United Arab Emirates to recuperate and refuel in advance of the crucial Rajkot Test. The action will shift to Ranchi for the fourth Ind vs Eng Test following the end of the third Test, and finally, to Dharamsala for the series’ final Test match.
