ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023: Schedule, Team, Date & Venue

On Thursday, the sixth ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup will begin in Sri Lanka.

The age-group competition is back after a four-year hiatus. 

Pakistan won the previous competition; which was hosted in Bangladesh, by defeating the home team in the final match. However, the most successful team is Sri Lanka, which won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. Meanwhile, In 2013, India won the competition’s first edition. Eight Asian nations will compete in a 50-over tournament.

Following a top-six finish in the just-completed ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe, Oman’s cricketers are ready to compete in the 2023 Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka from July 13–23.

ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023 format

Eight teams are competing in the competition, including the national teams of Nepal, UAE A, and Oman A Along with the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council—India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan—as well as three teams from the ACC Men’s Premier Cup.

The teams will be divided into two groups for round-robin matches. Meanwhile, the winners of each group will move to the semifinal of the 50-over competition. The final, which will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on July 23, will be the only day-night game of the competition.

In the span of 11 days, a total of 15 games will be contested at four different locations in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Additionally, this will be the fifth edition of the competition, which has previously been won twice by Sri Lanka and once each by India and Pakistan.

The upcoming ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be exclusively live-streamed by FanCode thanks to the digital rights it has acquired. On July 13, the event will begin, and it will last through July 23. Meanwhile on July 19, India and Pakistan will battle in what is considered to be the most anticipated matchup.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A, and Oman A makeup Group A, Nepal A, the UAE A, and Pakistan A are placed in Group B. In addition, each group’s top two teams advance to the semi-final. In addition, on July 21, the Group A winner will face the Group B runner-up in the first semi-final, and on July 21, the Group B winner will face the Group A runner-up in the second semi-final. On July 23, there will be a final.

ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023: Schedule, Date & Venue

The India A team for the Men’s Emerging Asia Cup in 2023 has been announced by the BCCI’s Junior Cricket Committee. Meanwhile, the competition will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from July 13–23.

With Abhishek Sharma serving as his deputy, the Indian team will be led by Yash Dhull. The last U-19 World Cup was won by the India U-19 team under Dhull’s leadership. The head coach for the group will be Sitanshu Kotak.

In addition, a couple of the Men in Blue players have enough experience from the Indian Premier League, and with so much skill on exhibit in the competition, they may start as favorites. However, Sai Sudharsan, Riyan Parag, and Prabhsimran Singh, among others, have already made their names in the IPL. Therefore, this is a chance for some of the other young people to show their abilities.

The team that places first in Group A and the team that places second in Group B will face off in the first semi-final. Additionally, the group winner from Group B will face the runner-up from Group A in the second semi-final.

Meanwhile on July 13, India A will face UAE A, followed by a heavyweight clash against Pakistan A on July 15. On July 18, they will play Nepal A in their final group-stage match.
